CAV PROGRAM START UP GUIDE

Thank you for purchasing a Cavalier Computers CAV Program computer. We are confident that this computer will help you excel in your studies here at the University of Virginia. The information below will help you connect to the UVA’s wireless network as well as direct on where to go to get specific software for your computer such as Microsoft Office.

Connect to UVA’s wireless network

1. Connect your wireless connection to “UVA WiFi Setup”
2. Open a web browser and go to connect.virginia.edu
3. This will bring you to the UVA Network Setup page, as seen below. Click Continue.
   
   
4. The system will then verify your operating system. If not correct, select the pull down menu at the bottom of the screen and select the correct one. When ready, click the continue button.
   
   
   
   
5. Your computer will then download the UVA Network Setup Tool. Follow the instructions on screen to run the Tool.
   
   
   
   
6. The Network Setup Tool will install a “Digital Certificate” on your computer which verifies your identity to the network when you attempt to log into University websites that are protected. In order to get this Digital Certificate, log in under Option 2 with your UVA computing ID and password.
   
   
   
7. When complete, you will be connected to eduroam

Install Microsoft Office and other programs

1. Go to Cav Program software page.
2. For Microsoft Office
   • Using your UVA email address and password, log into Office.com/login
   • This is Office 365, where you can do all of your work online. If you like, you can also download and install Office onto your computer using the “Install Office” link at the top of the page.
